Do you realize how much this made me itch? I'm allergic to bees and such so seeing this made me start itching.

But they are beautiful pictures! That last one is so colorful!

I agree! They are also called "cow killers" as the myth goes their sting is strong enough to kill a cow. I was tempted to see how strong the sting was, but chickened out.

The only way to get the cow killer to sit still was to offer it a drop of sugar water.

The cow killer lives in Florida and I ran into them every now and then..... The myth ain't true. My friend thought it would be funny to put three of them in my book bag..... It wasn't a fun morning but I def didn't die and I'm def not a cow Smile

Ugh. I'm so in the itching boat too. While they're beautiful and I can appreciate that. I am allergic to them and they make me want to flee in the opposite direction

LOL I don't know who is worse? Me or Alyssa when we see bees and ANYTHING that can sting... we both scream and run in the opposite direction... she got stung at Busch Gardens this summer and let out a blood curdling ear piercing scream lol... the only other time she got stung was in the head when she was about 3 LMAO. I havent been stung since I stepped on one in 2nd grade and my foot swelled so big I couldnt wear a shoe or socks lmao. Now I run

I actually had the horrific experience of yawning while I was riding my bike. Bee flew into my mouth, stung the back of my throat. I was in the hospital for almost a week, throat swelled closed... nasty mess. I hate bees... and wasps... and stingy things

Ivy, it's fun stuff. Itchy and spreads everywhere you touch, I was in sufolk some when the swamp was on fire. It turns out when it burn you can inhale it. Which is what myself and a bunch of the firefighter did. Now that was fun.

Years ago a girl friend and I camped on an inland in a river. Shortly after nightfall my girlfriend's eyes had swollen shut and she was having difficulty breathing. This was in the days before cell phones. Put her in my canoe, navigated some mild rapids (not so mild at night) and drove her to a nearby hospital. Turns-out, she inadvertently started the campfire with poison ivy leaves and smoke from the leaves had gotten in her eyes, throat and lungs. Luckily, she made a full recovery.
