PostSubject: bio-active vivarium (crested gecko)/Best substrates?   Fri Mar 04, 2016 11:55 am

I am getting a crested gecko soon, my first "exotic" animal ever since my frog died. I am interested in creating a bio-active vivarium. I've watched videos and read tutorials but I've never seen much information about cleaning the tank. How often would I need to clean the entire tank (remove substrate and replace it) if I include a clean up crew?

I know I could easily just use paper towel, but I have heard it doesn't hold the humidity as well. I've also looked into getting vinyl or tile as a substrate but I worry about the same issue with humidity. I know that one can get natural looking wood designs so they could work nicely.

Thank you!
