PostSubject: Juvenile Osprey   Tue Jul 15, 2014 7:48 pm

I started a new job a couple months ago that has scaled my operating area down just to the state of Virginia.  I'm always near water, mostly in remote areas and haven't been able to snatch many pics of the animals I've seen.  I was in Rescue today and came across an Osprey that was rescued from the water.  I really wanted to get a little closer, but didn't want it to end up in the water again. I think if you click the link on the photo, it will enlarge it. Very cool birds and have seen many lately!

If you find injured wildlife, please report it to one of the licensed rehabbers in the area:

Thanks JW. Luckily, it wasn't injured and ended up flying off before we left. From what I understand from the fishermen, is that when the Osprey are young, they have difficulty taking off from the water. Once they have time to dry, they fly off. I'm not sure how true that is, but they said this is the third time they had to get one out of the water.

Does anyone take the Coleman Bridge? We were crossing today and overhead, around the middle of the bridge was a nest with two birds. I only caught a glimpse but I thought they were Osprey but could of sworn I saw white heads. Anyone seen these?
