I'm a colubrid guy that has kept balls in the past but am out of touch with value. What would be the going rate for a yearling pastel male assuming no known hets? I'm looking at one at a pet store now that is asking $59.

Depends on the quality. Is this for a breeder or a pet?

More of a pet for me even though I my look for a female. He is however a very good looking pastel. I spotted him from across the store. Not sure what his story is or how he ended up there.

and it's a yearling eating adult mice. Thats the only drawback. Not sure if it'll eat rats or not.

In that case I'd have taken him home, even if he is a mouser for life that's not as bad as feeding a 2500 gr female mouser...

$59 is not a bad deal for a pet store price.  I've seen private breeder prices between $35-50 for hatchlings. That and most pet stores sell normals within that range.

I will be there and have pastel males (nice ones) for less than that. Pm me if you want one before that. I'm not that far from you.
