OK... I have had beardies and uros before. Also leos and a sav monitor before...and I currently have 2 orange eyed croc skinks...
so I'm not new to reptiles... but never had a blue tongue before and I like what I've read about them being docile, curious, and easy to handle. I also like that they eat fruits and veggies as well as proteins... I miss that about the beardies and uros... that being said... I'm planning my setup... I'm about to have a free 120 gallon tank.

Please correct my set up for me. I've done research but I'm curious about the uvb specifically... I keep reading it has to be inches away from the lizard...that's not going to be possible with this tank as it's 25 inches tall...

here's my list so far...

substrate shredded aspen
2x uvb 10.0 compact flourescent bulbs in clamp lamp dome fixtures
150 watt basking bulb in clamp lamp dome fixture
large flat basking rock
timer power strip for lighting
large, shallow, sturdy water dish
2 hides for the lizard - one hot one cool side
1 humid hide plastic box with cypress mulch or moss to hold moisture
some branches, driftwood, or something so it has something to climb under/over

thanks for the help!!

It all sounds ok to me. I have one and so do a few other people on here and there is one breeder (dsteamn). Her guys are gorgeous btw Smile I use aspen, my uvb lights are the same as yours and they are about 20" away from bottom of the tank. They do burrow a lot and mine likes to soak in the water dish. I offer hides and branches but he rarely goes on them but they are good for d├ęcor.

Mine likes to climb, I would get a lid.

I'm ok with that. I've had a big mean savvy before. I like a challenge.
