PostSubject: Is this a desert ball?   Fri Jun 07, 2013 2:26 pm

Ok I suck at iding snake morphs, its something I'm working on but mostly I suck lol.

On top of that, if this is a desert ball its the first I have personally seen... Just let me know, I got her because the guy could not take care of her and already don't have plans to breed her because of the problems with the desert gene, but from what I have seen from pics online it does not seem to match, so I figured I would ask the experts I know :-)

Also she is the same color as my pastel, no blushings obviously, but the same color if that helps....

Also if you need more or better pics let me know...

She looks desertish. The lighting isn't great. Does she try to bite your face off every time you look at her?

She doesn't look like a desert in that light. Too brown. Here is a pic of the male desert I used to have.

That's what I thought, I looked up pics and she just does not have the yellows that deserts have, at least from your pic and the others I saw... What do you think she is then? She has a funky pattern to be a normal and looks more like my pastel then my normals, but then again normals vary like crazy...

I just had my pastel and the "desert" next to each other, the "desert" is just a shade lighter and instead if blushings along the back she has blushings on her sides in the gaps, my pastel has the nor.al pastel markings and color.

Yep just give me a few, does the lighting matter? I can take her back outside and do it or just do the indoor lights again...

Kind of hard to tell but it looks like her head is narrow at the base where it meets the spine. Do you have any other balls similar to her size to compare to? That was one of the things Josh from Outback mebtioned about desert females. Almost like they were under developed.

I do an can take more pics tomorrow of my pastel girl about the same size, also I was talking with Joe Ellis who is sure it is a desert from the same pics... Again, I'm horrible with guessing the morph on ball pythons, so I just go with the people I know who deal with the morphs a ton more then me...

I don't really deal the with codom desert stuff. I loved them when all the combos started hatching but the female thing was a deal breaker for me. Even if she is just a pet she is a pretty snake.

She is very pretty and super chill, like most ball pythons. I'm glad to have her either way she just did not mesh with the pics I have seen which is why I asked...

I would have to say, with 100% assurance, that this particular snake has origins from a desert. Probably Saharan.
