Does anybody know a place around Norfolk or VA Beach that sells newts?

Thank you!

I thought I saw some at the last show but that would be the only place I would suspect to find them.

Pet paradise off kellam road has some i belive. I would call first to make sure (757) 499-9689. Also, sometimes animal jungle has them....but i'd stick with pet paradise if you can.

Emperor Newts mainly... but basically any I suppose. It's for a friend that had to sell all of his when he moved out here.

I did tell him about Animal Jungle, but I'll let him know about Pet Paradise as well!

Thank you everybody!!

Animal Jungle has red belly newts. They look decent for once, also.

Speaking of newts....During august and early september we had several on a daily basis swimming in our pool....rinsed them with fresh water hopefully to save them ...then took them back down creek which is @200 yards from house....who knew newts liked creeks?...I always thought they preferred still water.

I'm surprised that the newts were able to tolerate the swimming pool chemicals. Our native red-spotted newts typically do prefer still water, but are sometimes found in slowing moving creeks.

Emperor newts are rarely available in pet stores when compared to other species such as Cynops orientalis. When they are around they are generally expensive and often in bad shape. Checkout the classifieds at caudata.org. Every now and then someone has CB individuals for sale. Usually about once or twice a year imports can be found on KS as well.
