It seems that the entire nation's supply of antivenin for coral snakes is about to expire and no one else is making it.

Oh, that is not good. That seems irresponsible to stop making a strain of antivenin just because "it's not profitable."

If bites are known to occur in the US, antivenin should exist for that snake. I hope another pharmaceutical company picks up the slack. I'm not incredibly well-read on antivenin, but from what I understand, almost none of the work in it is 'profitable'. I know it's expensive when used in a hospital, and I imagine relatively expensive to produce, but I can't imagine you make much of a profit from the actual sales. I could be very wrong for all I know, though.
