Has anyone volunteered there before? I have a work sponsored volunteered session next week, but I am also submitting an application for continuous volunteering. I applied several years ago and never heard anything so I figured I would try again.

I have not. I offered to work with them on carnivorous plant cultivation, but it never came to anything.

I also applied when I was volunteering at my dog's vet, and never heard anything back either.

I heard back today!!! Meg is going to recommend me for the reptile section. There is a waiting list but I think it's really dependant on when you can help and what they have open. I'll be taking weekdays off to try to get in. I can't wait for the wealth of knowledge thats available.

Cool! Be sure to post reports about how it is going and what you are learning.

Dennis works out there, he volunteered at first then got picked up for the elephents. And I believe the last time we talked he just transferred to the reptile house.

Thanks everyone! I remember being a kid there and thinking the reptarium was the coolest thing on earth.

Update: I came into work this morning and received another email. Based on my reptile experience, I will be working with the North American section and their reptiles as soon as I get my TB paperwork to them. I should be starting soon, every other Friday and occasional weekends. I don't think I've ever been this excited about playing in poo Smile I'm not sure how the rules work about pictures, but if they are allowed, I'll take a bunch.
