I currently own a male bp, about 1300g( he was 1000g when he got his last wellness check at the vet june last year).. i feed on live medium rats every two weeks.. and occasionally i will treat him to a baby bunny.. my question is this.. if he can eat a bunny and still eat a medium two weeks later should i up his diet to larges? not trying to over feed..

If he's gained 300 grams in a year at that size, you are doing perfect! I try to keep my males on the smaller end. Now, if this is your pet and you would like him to get a little bigger quicker, I would give him a small every week with an occassional bunny pup. A 1300 gram ball python is not ready for a large in my opinion. I was feeding larges to my 3000+ girls.

Sorry, forgot this detail. A medium every two weeks is around 90 grams of rat. A small every week would equal about 120 grams of rat after two weeks.

I offer small rats to all my snakes once per week.

I wouldn't feed a large to a male that size. I don't even feed larges to ANY of my ball pythons. I feed 1 small rat per week for all adult ball pythons. The only snake that gets anything larger is my 2500g boa. She's being bumped up from mediums soon.
