Thanks. Some of the snake I did not get the opportunity to work with other than photographing them. Did not work with the mamba. For a long snake it was very fast and agile, two qualities I don't possess.

Thought people may find this information interesting:

Below is the estimated lethal dose for an adult human. (Values are from Minton 1969)

Broad-banded Copperhead - 100 mg
Northern Death Adder - 10 mg
Gaboon Viper - 80-90 mg
Eyelash Viper - Not beleived capable of a fatal, adult human envenomation
Fer-de-Lance - 50-60 mg
Malayan pitviper - 50-60 mg
Desert Horned Viper 40-50 mg
Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake - 100 mg
Aruba Island Rattlesnake - ?? (most Crotalus are 50 - 100 mg)
Black mamba - 10-15 mg
Sawscale Viper - 3-5 mg

that is very interesting.... a lot more than I thought for most species. I wonder how much venom is given during a normal bite that they feel the need to use it

Awesome pics. Saw Scaled vipers are very nasty biters. You definitely do NOT want to get bit by one of those. Even with blood transfusions your chances of survival are grim.

I love desert horned vipers (Cerastes cerastes). One of my favorites. I have a Cerastes vipera, which is cool, but not as cool as the horned vipers.

Fer-de-Lance - 50-60 mg / 100-200 mg
Malayan pitviper - 50-60 mg / 40-60 mg
Desert Horned Viper 40-50 mg / 20-45 mg
Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake - 100 mg / 200-300 mg
Aruba Island Rattlesnake - ?? (most Crotalus are 50 - 100 mg) / ??
Black mamba - 10-15 mg / 60-95 mg

The old gaboon viper was checked several times for an RI, but in the end the old guy just drooled. I can't remember exactly how old he was, but I believe that he lived over 30 years.
