PostSubject: Pac Man Frog Questions   Sat Jun 16, 2012 11:33 am

I may be adopting a 1 year old pac man frog. I just had a few questions about their care. I did look up a care sheet but I was just wondering if anyone on here had some personal experience with them.

They can be kept at room temperature - I keep my apartment between 70-75 at all times. Most of the time it is 73+. Would this be a good temperature?

Feeding - I currently raise dubia and mealworms. I'm not sure if they can eat mealworms, but dubia and crickets I can get easily. Anything else I can feed him? (I plan on starting up silkworms and hornworms at some point)

Enclosure - I've read they are pretty inactive and can be put in small enclosures - I have some empty 10g tanks. Would a 10g work for a 1 year old pacman frog?

Any other advice?

I'm picking him up today after work. I'll take pictures of him and his setup this weekend and post them on Monday morning.

I think you have the general basics down. Just make sure to keep it clean. Bacteria can grow very quickly in their moist environments that the frogs need.

I have him settled in. The girl I got him from has been feeding him only pinkies (every 3 days). I'm going to let him sit for a few days before trying to feed him. He's in a 10g with about 1-1.5 inches of eco-earth bedding. It's damp but not wet. He quickly buried himself. I was thinking of trying him on dubias first.

I actually know the girl who owned him before the girl I got him from and she informed me he likes to bite. I'll have to watch my fingers around him. He is pretty much a big blob of a frog but I find him interesting. I will have to do some research to find out if they can be sexed at this size (if sexing them is even possible).

10 gallon tank is what I have my girl in. I feed her gold fish, fuzzies, night crawlers and horn worms I also always use tongs because I refuse to go near that massive black hole of a mouth. Anything smaller to me just seems like a waste of time with as much as they like to eat. I have an under tank heater for mine but it's mainly because she is albino and it was hard finding a light that didn't start to burn her. I have never had one that didn't like to bite. As for sexing unless your frog starts calling then it's pretty hard to tell for another year to two years. Good Luck!

I couldn't convince him to try a dubia, so I got him a rat pink. As soon as I wasn't looking, he gobbled it up. I might get some night crawlers this weeked and try him on one of those. How often is it recommended that we feed them? Yesterday was his first meal with me.

I'm still going to get one of these one day. Do you know if dubia are typically rejected?
