PostSubject: Baltimore National Aquarium   Mon Jan 30, 2012 4:01 pm

This past Saturday, I went to one of my favorite Aquariums, and quite possibly one of the best in the US. I took a lot of photos with my Canon EOS T3 and am just trying to get better at photography in general. All photos are taken with the standard EFS 18-55mm lens. I did not use any flash on any of the photos and used either the manual setting or the aperture priority setting (Av). I have yet to edit all 200+ pics but here are a few that I have looked over and really like. If you have any comments or helpful tips I am open for all! I can't wait to get some other lenses in my collection to have a little more range in what I can obtain.

Some more....

Tons of people using flash in here, so it kind of changed the look of my pic...still looks pretty good I think.

Was playing around with shutter speed. Hard to really slow it down to much with the lens that I have without blacking out the pic

Thanks for looking! Will post a few more once I edit them.

That is also one of my favorite places. I went to a professional conference several years ago and the association rented out the entire building for the event. It was great because it was not crowded and we could spend as much time as we wanted. I spent about two hours with the sharks.

I dive with those sand tiger sharks off of NC a lot and love being near them. Such gentle and majestic creatures.

I like them!

It looks as if you have the iso setting to "Auto" or set very high, that's the reason for the graininess and the color noise in some of the photos. A good external wireless flash is a great tool to have.

I took most of the photos used in the National Aquarium in DC and some of the photos at the National Aquarium in Baltimore.

If you happen to shoot in camera raw, Photoshop CS5 (& CS 5.5) has a fairly good noise reduction filter. You can also open a jpg file in camera raw by selecting "camera raw" in the format option within the open file dialog.

Love the pictures! Photography is one of those things I have no idea about, but the pictures look pretty to me. I love the third one of the little froggy butt.
